[attr="class","appFIELD"]Hickoryfrost, on the surface, is a charismatic and generally likable cat. He speaks well, keeps his swearing to a minimum and treats everyone with respect. He is formal to his superiors and offers kind, encouraging words to those of lower or differing ranks. He tends to take jokes quite well, even at himself and usually has some witty humor of his own to offer. Everyone of course has their demons, however, and Hickoryfrost secretly to most, maybe not so secretly to others, has the devil's share of demons himself. He is extremely ambitious, hell-bent on taking the name Hickorystar one day even if it means sabotage, betrayal, murder or even worse things than that. The charming good guy act tends to fool most, though it would be irresponsible at best and erroneous at worst to say that he can fool everyone. Still, those who are also clever with concealing their true feelings will find it fairly easy to fool Hickoryfrost into thinking that they are buying into his beguiling disguise... at least while he is still young and inexperienced with life. Stars protect those that are found out, as his prideful, vengeful side of him will not be happy about being fooled. Despite this darker side to him,Hickoryfrost is surprisingly good at keeping his temper in check, which results in a cold, creeping type of anger, rather than a hot, explosive one.

[attr="class","appBAR"]
[attr="class","appFIELD"]Hickoryfrost is the only brother to Oakfire and both of them were born to stray cat parents in the dirty alleyways of Twoleg Place. They had a sister as well named Joan... at least he thinks that was her name. It was a small litter, but that worked out just fine for their mother, whom was already struggling a bit to find food just for herself. The mother's name, ironically enough, was Star. She was a blue/gray and white tabby cat with gorgeous golden eyes that reminded Hickoryfrost of the sun itself. She had been a compassionate mother, in stark contrast to their worthless father, named Deus. Hickoryfrost remembers his father as a solid white cat with eyes like icicle daggers. While he wasn't necessarily an abusive father, he wasn't exactly around much either and often would disappear for weeks or months at a time, leaving Star to care for the kits herself. Thankfully, his kithood had been a good one while it lasted. Hickoryfrost, known as Luxfero at the time, and his brother Mikhail (now known as Oakfire) usually had full bellies and few worries. Unfortunately at about five moons old, it all came to a screeching halt. A car swerved into their mother while she was out hunting and killed her instantly. Joan was picked up by an animal control officer not long afterward. For almost an entire moon, Luxfero and Mikhail were on their own, catching mice on occasion but mostly rummaging through trash trying to find their next meal. One day a dog chased the two brothers out of Twoleg place and into the forest where the clans were. Terrified for their lives, Luxfero and Mikhail ignored the scent markings and ran through the clan territories with the dog in hot pursuit.
Their first encounter with clan cats was with Windclan, whose warriors charged the dog rather than run. The two young toms watched as they fought the dog, several perishing between ruthless jaws. Mikhail gained his courage first, insisting that he and his brother do something other than just stand there and let these cats be murdered because they lead the dog to their territory. At first, Luxfero disagreed, insisting that they definitely had no chance against a dog if adult cats did not. "Then stay here and be a coward!" Mikhail had hissed angrily before charging the dog. At the word, coward, Luxfero's fear gave way to shame... then rapidly followed by rage. Mikhail managed to leap up to the dog's neck and bury himself close to the jawline where the dog could not grab him with his teeth. Maybe I was scared but I'm not an idiot! Luxfero remembered thinking at the time. He knew their claws and teeth were too small to go through something like dog skin, let alone the fat and the muscle before they could get to any major veins to kill it. Luxfero instead waited for it to snap it's jaws at his brother, failing to grab the annoying kitten off of his neck. Luxfero jumped up to the dog's face and landed a lucky strike right into the dog's eye, which caused it enough pain to whip around and retreat. Mikhail fell off of the dog just a moment later, but was otherwise fine.
Both kits were at first greeted with hostility, obviously it was their fault that the dog had appeared to begin with. We just fought a dog... and now we have to fight these guys? Luxfero remembered thinking, but one glance at his brother unwavering in the gaze of angry adult cats was all Luxfero needed to find his courage once more. Before any real damage happened, an unknown cat of the clan stepped in to defend the kits. (I am leaving this vague unless someone wants to step in and claim that role for funsies)
The brothers were accepted into Windclan and were given apprentice names, Hickorypaw and Oakpaw. Since they had nowhere else to go to, the two brothers were willing to become part of Windclan. They learned the ways of Starclan and the Warrior Code, absolutely stunned to find out that the starry warriors were real when they made their moonstone journey, and dedicated their lives to Windclan. Apprenticeship was hard at times for Hickorypaw, but was just as fascinating. He had found a family with these strange cats, and was in awe at his first gathering when he saw just how many more there were. Hickoryfrost earned his warrior name rather quickly, as did his brother Oakfire. As Hickoryfrost matured and the clan life had lost it's novelty, he quickly became bored. The feeling he got when he advanced in the ranks and the praises he got from the clan was suddenly not enough anymore. He wanted more. He needed more. His sight was set on the Great Rock with the leaders one day and it slowly dawned on him... that was his next step. To become Hickorystar was his new goal. Something about Hickoryfrost had changed in that moment too. Perhaps it was due to his trauma early in his life, but he felt himself growing more and more restless. Hunts didn't bring him the same pleasure that it once did. Fighting still felt good, but even that was losing it's flavor. His life lead to boredom. His boredom lead to frustration. His frustration turned into anger and murderous ambition.

Hickory; Hickory is a hard, strong wood and this prefix was given as a compliment to his bravery in the face of real peril. It is even harder than oak. | Frost; This reflects his personality, as he is generally a calm and analyzing individual. While he is polite and approachable, he always seems a bit distant to those paying attention. |
