[attr="class","appCATEGORY"]PERSONALITY
[attr="class","appBAR"]
[attr="class","appFIELD"]GENERAL
Shadpaw is a deceptively simple tom. His one and only ambition is self-gratification. “Deceptively” simple because his means of satisfaction aren't entirely in alignment with most Clan cats, even if it appears that he's just quirky rather than entirely different. He's a malicious liar in truth, desiring nothing more than to see something or someone hurt and or to experience physical pleasures. His appetite for cuddling often mixing with his appetite to put his claws into something. This malice is hidden, however, with some training from Ashblaze and frequent badgering from his Mother during his kithood, he's learned to somewhat successfully manipulate his image in the eyes of others. But he's not an expert yet, so, sometimes his darkness seeps through without him noticing.
WARRIOR'S CODE
Shadpaw does not understand the Warrior's Code in the slightest. The concept of selflessness is an alien idea to him. He doesn't get why anyone would risk their own neck for someone else, nor why Warrior's aren't allowed to kill intruders. As far as StarClan is concerned, it isn't even a thought in this young tom's mind: when it's mentioned he dismisses it as nothing more than a fairy tale, where the Medicine Cats are obviously delusional.
WHY BEHAVE?
Due to the incessant and early nagging his Mother inflicted on him from his bad behaviors: for things like bullying his littermates, playing with his food too much before eating it and saying morbid or hateful comments, he's learned that his place in the Clan could be compromised if he misbehaves too frequently. Which would suck, right? Because they are the shield that keeps him alive. Up until Ashblaze he assumed he'd have to repress his desires if he wanted to survive, but, after some tutelage, he has learned that he can get both if he's deceptive or sneaky about his darker tendencies.

[attr="class","appFIELD"]-KIT
Shadkit was one of four kits born to Birchtail and an unknown father. Unlike his loving or playful littermates, Shadkit was born with a knack for violence. From his play to his wreslting for a teat, his forcefulness was always on the overly aggressive side. When he came of age to form words, it was clear he had a distaste for his littermates; “Why did you have to have more than one kit? They're annoying.” He disliked their whininess and their need to feed off his teats. The only thing he really appreciated was their collective warmth on cold nights, but even then, he figured that he'd of been better off if it were just his mother's warmth. The older he got, the more his resentments grew, however, and it wasn't long before it spread to his mother, as well. She had began to 'tame' him, to tell him to keep his cruel thoughts and claws to himself, or else he'd get singled out as unfit for clan life and lose his place in it. That meant exile. Starvation. He hated being repressed, but he adhered, his bitterness boiling beneath the surface. The only time he got to take it out was when he was alone with his siblings, where he'd hurt them to feel more like himself, to feel a release of some kind. Any other time, however, he just appeared to be frustrated yet 'docile' and obedient.
-PAW
Shadpaw fully expected his apprentice life to be as tedious and enraging as his kithood. To be confined to acting a certain way with no benefit whatsoever to himself. But, StarClan's dark twin must've intervened, for he was blessed with the perfect mentor, Ashblaze. It was through Ashblaze's early tutelage that Shadpaw visibly began to change from sour and closed off, to a surprisingly confident and almost charming young tom. The dark mentor fostering the apprentice to 'behave' in such a way that was also beneficial to him, so that it wasn't so.. repressing. He learned that acting a certain way wasn't so bad if there was a reward you wanted from it. As a teen, that was more fathomable to Shadpaw. His wants were easy. He wanted girls — or boys — to entertain him, to adore him, so that he could get whatever he wanted from them. That and his darker, more violent desires, were allowed to roam free when he was privately with Ashblaze; though, that was often simply channeled through the torture of prey.
Shadpaw is currently two moons into his tutelage with Ashblaze and he has most certainly became a different cat in the eyes of many of his clanmates: no longer the apparently frustrated and asocial kit. But at what price? They've yet to know the full extent of his mentor's influence on him, nor the depth of his gratitude toward Ashblaze. In fact, his only sense of loyalty is now tied directly, and exclusively, to his mentor: his clan and it's related duties nothing more than means to an end.
