[attr="class","boatscrollt"]dusksong had been up for quite some time, even before the sun had prepared to shine its light upon them. his entire body had just been buzzing with excitement - he had been paired with his own little daughter! hazelstar had answered his prayers and he barely had to lift a paw.
it was no doubt that dusksong had been worried about who his daughter was going to be mentored by, knowing her disability would need extra special attention. as she grew into an adolescent, he doted on her every need and was always trying to help her better herself and now? now, he was actually allowed to do so without undermining another cat’s teaching methods - not that something as silly as that would have stopped him anyhow.
he had asked her to meet him in the forest, the place in which he would set up their first training session. though, he didn’t give her clear direction or an official meeting spot, dusksong was confident in his daughter’s ability to use her nose. his scent was one of many, sure, but he knew that ebonypaw would be able to pick his out from the bunch. then again, there was a sliver of his consciousness that worried - that always worried - whenever he left his daughter alone, even if for a split second.
duskong knew he wasn’t overbearing and liked to mess around but, with ebonypaw’s physical setback, he always paid more attention to her than he probably needed to.
he sat in a small clearing, or technically it was simply a clear-ish patch of the forest in which nothing but grass tended to grow, with his back facing the dark woods around him. it was a vulnerable position, but dusksong was capable enough to not let himself be ambushed - though he heard a soft shuffling in the distance. his ear followed the noise accordingly, facing his rear, but he made no movements. with a small chuckle, dusksong flicked his tail nonchalantly and slightly turned his head to the side. glad to hear that you’ve made it
