[attr="class","appBAR"]
[attr="class","appFIELD"]It is a popular myth that sometimes the most adored people are the charming rogues, the ones that the group put up with and love regardless of their fault. Maybe to a degree that is the case with Salmonpaw. However, it is likely closer to the point that ShadowClan don’t have any choice but to put up with the intolerable idiot. Charismatic and charming, Salmonpaw swans around any gathering of cats with his head held high and a grin firmly planted across his face, ready to sweet-talk his way into the hearts of those around him. Always with some sort of remark to make, for better or worse, there certainly after some cats who get draw into the tom’s outgoing and relatively friendly nature. He seems to always have a joke on his tongue, whether that’s innocent, flirty, or plain sarcastic is anyone’s guess, but it does make him at least entertaining to be around.
Dramatic with every element of his life, he seems to always play up insults and remarks to bait others, even if he has a remarkably thick skin. It takes a lot, or a few very pointed things to get under the tom’s fur, not something most cats can achieve. Especially not when he pretending to die or dramatically exclaiming about the end of the world over a fish that is too small for some warrior. That perhaps is the start of where cats get tired of him. His constant ribbing and jibes over the smallest of things to any cat. Of course, all this speaks of a very confidence cat, perhaps too confident. Certainly an arrogant one. The fact he is so opinionated about every little thing helps with that image. He’ll argue about anything, deflecting, working others up, and enjoying every moment of it. Confident in that he is right and will always be right, even if the other cat thinks they’ve won leaving the discussion.
As might be assumed, Salmonpaw doesn’t know where others have set their limits, and will test his boundaries and luck until it comes back to smack him in the face. He doesn’t know when to quit, when to back down or accept defeat. He pushes and pushes, and then dismisses the other cat complete when they snap. He is a warrior too confrontational for his own good, and it is no doubt a thorn in the side of every ShadowClan cat who has to deal with him on a daily basis. Then again, his clan does get some reprieve, given he is a cat who hates staying in the camp longer than he has to. Adventurous to a fault, Salmonpaw wants to see the world, wants to find every secret he can, wants to experience what no other ShadowClan cat has done before. It pushes him to the very borders of the territory, always hunting after stories and ideas for answers.
Of course, if a cat wants to get between him and his heart’s desires, they’ll quickly find out exactly how rebellious the tom is. Awful at following orders, and always questioning the warrior code and the leader’s word, he is always trying his luck and end up punished for it. Of course, his loyalty is just as questionable for the clan. To friends is a very different matter, but to his clan, without someone rationalising every decision, he can’t say he’ll ever be all forever for the clan. His friends and family come first, and for them, well these are the cats who do see his better sides. The funny, carefree tom who does have a heart of gold somewhere in his chest, where he does mean well even if it comes out wrong. Sure, he might be an insufferable twat sometimes, and impulsive, dramatic idiot too reckless for his own good. But he’s compassionate, and courageous when it comes to saving lives and removing suffering from those of others. Even if it doesn’t always go to plan.
Maybe one day more cats will see those particular traits in him. For now, most cats are just pleased when he isn’t aggravating someone in the middle of the camp.

[attr="class","appFIELD"]No one was surprised when Morningfrost declared she was having kits. The dramatic extravert of a she-cat had been seeking out a mate for moons, determined to move to the nursery more permanently. It seemed like she’d found one in the newly named Firewhisker, the tom following his older mate around like the sun shone from her. For all her dramatics and goals, Morningfrost did love the tom though, and the kits came not only from want but from a legitimate decision by the two. Even if the rest of the clan wouldn’t see it that way.
Salmonkit and Yarrowkit as the two of the litter were named, immediately became the center of the world for both parents. Two sleek little ginger toms, one a few shades paler than the other. They were a match of their parents, and loved without hesitation. From their very first moons, it was clear who they took after as well. While Yarrowkit was quiet and gentle like Firewhisker, Salmonkit showed every piece of evidence toward being a copy of his mother. Dramatics and more opinions than a three moon old kit should have.
Many expected with a tongue like that, he’d either have every possible friend in the nursery, or none at all. Much to everyone’s surprise, he ended up with just one. Yellowkit. The one kit who put up with him despite their total difference in personality, even from a young age. His calmness worked wonders on Salmonkit at the most stressful of times, and his energy helped keep the tom active and moving. Somehow, the unlikely duo had ended up friends for what seemed like life, especially as they entered into their apprentice moons.
Salmonpaw found himself under Firewhisker’s old mentor, a louder, energetic tom by the name of Tigertail. Immediately, the two clicked, their similar personalities immediately meshing into a mix that had them firing through lessons as quickly as they came. In many ways, it was during those moons of training that his potential as a warrior shone to the rest of the clan as he surprisingly demonstrated a lot of skill when it came to hunting. However, for all the good that came out of the pairing, also came the bad.
It is from Tigertail that Salmonpaw learned not to hold his tongue, to push and talk without consideration. It was his mentor that built up his self-esteem into arrogance. Unfortunately, Tigertail would never see Salmonpaw's warrior ceremony, the tom killed by a rogue at the edge of the territory. The death was a blow no one saw coming, and shook Salmonpaw to his core. Tigertail had been as permanent as his family. Yet, then he was gone. Salmonpaw covered up his feelings with dramatics and jokes, stinging all the while as he was given a new mentor to continue his training with.
The feelings haven't left, but, Salmonpaw is determined to prove his worth, and exactly what he is capable of to everyone.
