[attr="class","sharktable-post"]There were some nights where the itching of Sharkstrike’s his overworking mind became too much. The restlessness tugged at his very soul, barely allowing his eyes to close for a few moments before he needed to roll, his long limbs jutting awkwardly into the moss of his nest. Most of the time he could deal with it; his back against the den wall, forcing himself into light slumber. Yet others it was near impossible, and frankly, it was becoming an issue.
With an irritated grunt, Sharkstrike snapped his legs out, eyes squeezed shut. His paws hit a soft form, and immediately he lifted his head, in time to be fixed with a piercing stare and a hiss by the warrior lying nearest. Sharkstrike’s ears flattened against his head and he retracted his paws sheepishly. “Wake me again and I’ll rip whatever touches me right off,’ the warrior growled. Sharkstrike immediately ducked his head, scrambling to his paws. “Sorry, sorry,” he muttered.
As much as he’d usually be willing to argue, the cat had a point. Others were sleeping. With a shake of his head and dreary eyes the gray tom pushed himself through the crowded den as carefully as he could, before stepping out into the clearing. The sky showed the first signs of the coming dawn as hints of sunlight trickled from the far off distance. For a long moment Sharkstrike couldn’t help but study it, watching the scattering of rays across the deep, shaded sky.
Almost unconsciously Sharkstrike’s gaze drifted to the medicine cat’s den. Yet, as soon as he found the entrance, a strike of motivation hit him. There was one cat who could truly appreciate such a sight. With a new spring in his step he strode across the camp, pausing at the entrance before sticking his head inside, seeking out Sparrowflight’s form. “Sparrowflight? Bud? You awake by any chance?” he whispered loudly into the den.
