she'd awoken early, a few heartbeats before the first light of dawn began to trickle into her den, rousing her unless she'd successfully covered her face with her fluffy tail or remembered to lay down with her back to the entrance. hazelstar much preferred covering her eyes with her tail than letting any cat have the ability to sneak up on her.
within the first minutes the dilute tortie spent awake, the shadowclan leader had stalked out of her den, wolfed down a scrawny mouse, and decided to check out the border between her own clan and windclan. as she stood near the border, the intermingling of shadowclan, windclan, and thunderpath scents nearly causing bile to rise to her throat, hazelstar blinked away sleep and peered across, looking to the moors.
no cat dared to cross with the leader there, right? regardless, she remained alert, ready just in case there was another early riser like herself. most likely, her own dawn patrol would find her, or another clanmate exploring the furthest reaches of shadowclan land. there was no reason to be alarmed. yet.
