[attr="class","appFIELD"]the biggest thing about chestnutfang is that she's bold. she's confident in her abilities, and in herself, and isn't afraid to show it. she's not particularly confrontational, really, but she won't hesitate to fight to prove a point. only if she has to, though. having been born outside of the clans, she had a very hard time adjusting to the new and different life that the clans had to offer her. she still finds it a bit hard to adjust, even though it's been about ten moons since she arrived here in shadowclan. she's used to total solitude, so suddenly being surrounded by felines is... a lot to take in.
she may come off as somewhat crude, and even arrogant, but she's really quite friendly once you get to know her. she's quite vocal with her opinions and won't hesitate to speak up if she deems it necessary. in fact, she's quite blunt and to the point with her words. she has a tendency to be brutally honest, as she doesn't see the point in lying to others. the truth always comes out eventually, in her experience. she can be a bit short-tempered and impatient, and doesn't really have any patience for nonsense. she's a hard-worker at her core; after all, she's been fighting for her survival for many, many moons.
chestnutfang can be a bit of a flirt when it comes to other she-cats. she's a lesbian through and through and isn't afraid to show it. she's woefully inexperienced when it comes to actual romance, however; flirting is just about the farthest she's ever gotten with another molly. she doesn't know what it feels like to be in love and has yet to experience that joy. well, it's hard to meet the perfect molly when you're constantly on the move, isn't it? but perhaps now that she's finally settled down in a place she feels comfortable being herself in, perhaps she can find the one...

[attr="class","appCATEGORY"]HISTORY
[attr="class","appBAR"]
[attr="class","appFIELD"]chestnutfang's story begins a long time ago, in a land quite far away from the clans. her mother was a wandering loner named eclipse, with a mate by the name of panther. she ultimately gave birth to four kits; all female. chestnut was the first born, and easily the biggest of the bunch. marigold was the second, wailing her tiny little head off. honey was third, mostly silent except for many small whimpers. hazelnut was the last born, and the smallest of the group. overall the litter was relatively healthy, and for several moons the little family were able to live in peace.
when chestnut was six moons old, she began to grow curious. she had a tendency to wander off for long periods of time; but she always came back before dark. she told her siblings of whatever she'd discovered that day. her mother began to teach her how to hunt; her father gave her combat lessons. things continued like this for four more moons... however, everything changed when she turned ten moons old. it started out like any other day; however, that evening, the family was ambushed suddenly by a group of rogues. things turned very bloody very quickly; in the chaos of the fighting, chestnut lost sight of her parents. she fought as well as she could, but she knew when to call it quits. before she could sustain any major injuries, chestnut fled. she ran and ran as far as her legs could carry her. away from the brutes that assaulted her and her family.
it was well into the night when she finally stopped, chest heaving, out of breath. she was finally safe again... but at what cost? she'd left her family behind. she resolved to go back and find them once morning came again. she managed to find safety in a hollowed out base of a tree trunk, falling asleep surprisingly quickly. night passed, and with it came morning again. chestnut roused herself bright and early and set off the way she came in an attempt to track down her family. she walked, and walked, and kept walking. how far had she gone? she couldn't remember. then, she wandered into the clearing her family had previously occupied.
there was no one to be found. her parents, her siblings, even the rogues that had driven them out were gone. the only sign they'd ever been there was the large bloodstains in the grass. for several minutes chestnut was at a loss. what should she do now? ten moons old, and already split up from her family. the only thing she wanted to do was to find them. but if they'd split up, that could be rather hard... still, what else should she do? with that thought in mind, she set off on the journey that would eventually change her life.
it was a long, long journey. she wandered through many different types of biomes, fighting for survival each and every step of the way. she avoided other loners and rogues purely to keep herself safe and unharmed. prey was easier to come by in greenleaf; while leafbare proved to be a challenge for the molly. yet despite everything, she survived. for a long time, she came to rely on no one but herself as she searched fruitlessly for her missing family. but as time went by, she began to forget. she forgot the sounds of their voices, what they looked like, what they were like. soon, the point of her journey had been all but forgotten... yet she still traveled.
she was fifty-four moons when things would change. after a long day of traveling, she found herself at the edge of a towering pine forest. she assumed it would be like all the other places she'd seen, but growing closer, there was a strange scent. she couldn't quite place it... but then she heard a voice. looking up, she spotted two cats heading her way. chestnut became wary, not wanting another fight, but they told her something that piqued her curiosity. these two were from something called 'shadowclan'. unfamiliar with the concept of a clan, chestnut pried for more info. the smaller of the two cats answered easily, much to the chagrin of their partner.
the idea of large groups of cats living together in relative harmony had chestnut interested. it wasn't her family... but she'd given up on that goal a long time ago. the two cats let her off easy with a warning... however, the smaller one offered her a proposition; either leave forever, or join shadowclan. settling down in a makeshift nest for that night, she found herself conflicted. she could continue her nomadic ways, relying on no one but herself... but was this really what she wanted to do for the rest of her life? she would die along and no one would know or care. in a clan, she would be well-fed and cared for, so long as she promised her undying loyalty to them.
she made a decision. the next day, she stood once again at the shadowclan border, her head held high. the same two cats that met her the day before showed up again. chestnut told them boldly that she was interested in joining. the two cats exchanged glances before gesturing for her to follow. they brought her to shadowclan, and brought her to cloudstar right away. she made her case before the leader, offering her services to shadowclan and offering her undying loyalty. after some deliberation, cloudstar agreed to allow chestnut to join. she was given the name chestnutpaw and assigned as an apprentice, to learn the ways of the clans. she was assigned to thistlefang as a mentor.
chestnutpaw knew very well how to hunt and fight; the majority of her training was learning about the clans, the warrior code, and starclan. she found it all incredibly fascinating, especially the idea of their ancestors watching over them from the stars. she took it all in stride, though wasn't sure if she believed in them right away. only three moons after her arrival, cloudstar passed away due to old age, and hazelstar took over as leader of shadowclan. the rest of her training period progressed fairly uneventfully; and once she was deemed ready, she earned her warrior name; chestnutfang.
in the ten moons she's been here in shadowclan, she has spent much of it struggling to adjust. once used to sleeping alone, now she finds herself surrounded by felines on all sides. her instincts keep telling her to be wary, but she forces herself to remain calm. she still finds herself having trouble connecting with her new clanmates, though she's determined to prove her undying loyalty to her new clan. this was her home now, and she would defend it with her life.
