like climbing ivy i will not let go ♥ There was little that Ivystar loved more than patrolling ThunderClan territory. It didn’t particularly matter if she was with a patrol or not. If she were, then she could enjoy the strengths and talents of her clanmates, and chat with them about the going-on’s on camp. If not, like evenings such as today, then she could take her time and savor the moment to herself. Though Ivystar certainly was proud to be leader, and felt she did her clan proud in the position, it was a demanding role and rarely did she have time to sit in silence and think. Plus…there was a certain smugness she always felt walking through the ThunderClan forest. Their woods was growing lush after a wet leaf bare, and prey was beginning to return in heartening amounts. Ivystar certainly though the oak forest superior to the moors or marshes, and even RiverClan territory was much too wet for her. Soon, however, her pawsteps slowed. Without realizing it, she had traced a path she often followed in her dreams - the patrol she had been on moons ago that had rushed to try and save Robinstar, only to find their leader already dead at the thunderpath. Ivystar swallowed, the memory never failing to dry her mouth. A shift in the wind, and ShadowClan scent hit her, almost as if a taunt. In response, the fur on her neck rose, and she bit back a hiss of disgust. Wretched rat eaters. If they hadn’t insisted on constantly pushing the limits of the border, Robinstar might still be alive. Stepping forward to the edge of the Thunderpath, Ivystar narrowed her eyes and scanned the pines across it, trying to see if she could spot any pelts. ooc: hazelstar

it was just one of those days where the nice weather pulled hazelstar to her feet, dragging her through shadowclan territory wherever her paws felt like leading her. it was somewhat absentmindedly, somewhat intentional, but the torbie leader rather liked checking borders over hunting. it was simply easier.
hunting was fine when the mood struck, but it felt more like a chore than stalking the outer boundaries of her clan's territory. it was more dramatic, in a way. if a cat had crossed into their land, something could be done about it, whereas hunting was only ever exciting if there was a bit of nonsense happening. a rather grumpy crow, an angry rat, eh. even that wasn't that fascinating.
like most days, her paws brought her to the pine forest along the edge of the thunderpath. across the way, shadowclan ended and thunderclan started - with their lush forest, brimming with life, greenery, and rocks. meh. hazelstar didn't care for it. some cats were enamored by certain aspects of it, like riverclan. sunningrocks was always a sought after location, though she found nothing particularly attractive about it. who cared, really? it seemed more like the two clans preferred having something to quarrel about.
no, give her the swampy marsh, filled with wet, damp land, mud, and critters that would make the other clans' skin crawl. frogs, salamanders, lizards, occasional snakes, rats, crows. it wasn't the most attractive prey, but the challenge was better and the pine forests held typical prey for the clans within its tree-lined limits. as she smirked at the thought of a windclan cat trying to eat a frog, the stench of thunderclan drifted into her mouth, its freshness putting her on alert.
peering across the tarry, acrid path for monsters, her eyes landed on none other than Ivystar. "oy," she called, slowly exiting the forest. "what's this?"
